A two-day workshop was held during the first week of December at the Government Procurement Department to advance the Public Procurement Professionalization Strategy and the Functional Competency Framework, reinforcing ongoing efforts to build a more professional, transparent, and accountable public procurement system.
The initiative is supported by the Jordan Growth Multi-Donor Trust Fund and coordinated with the World Bank, in close collaboration with the Reform Secretariat at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, as part of the implementation of the National Roadmap for Public Procurement Reform. It builds on ongoing efforts to apply Public Procurement Regulation No. (8) of 2022, enhance the professional capacity of public procurement practitioners, and equip them with the skills required to improve transparency, value-for-money, and efficiency, including expanding the use of the electronic procurement system (JONEPS), which has already benefited more than 2,000 government employees.
This project is being delivered collaboratively by the Government Procurement Department, the General Tenders Department, the Public Service and Administration Authority, the Institute of Public Administration, and the Procurement Policies and Complaints Unit at the Prime Ministry, working together to advance a more professional and efficient procurement system in Jordan.
